Magician Brushwood will perform at LCSC on Nov. 5

Brian Brushwood will present his “Bizarre Magic Show” on Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Lewis-Clark State College Williams Conference Center.

The performance, which is sponsored by the Warrior Entertainment Board, had an admission of $2 or two canned food items, while LCSC students will be admitted free. The canned food items will be donated to a local organization.

Brushwood has been described as having the unique ability to take outrageous, dangerous, and amazing feats and blend them with comedy. In his previous performances, he has escaped from an audience-tied straightjacket, broken concrete over his head, stuck nails into his eyes, read minds, laid down on a bed of nails, and ate fire.

Brushwood has performed on TV and radio broadcasts, including a performance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and others. He also performs across the country at various colleges and clubs.

Brushwood is the author of “The Professional’s Guide to Fire Eating,” “Pack the House,” and “Cheat, Cons, Swindles and Tricks.”

He was born in Fountain Valley, Calif., and learned to make friends quickly as he spent most of his childhood moving to Colorado, Norway, and several parts of Texas. Once in college, Brushwood rekindled his interest in magic from his youth and studied sleight-of-hand and performed close-up magic as a part-time job. In fact, he was able to convince his professors to allow him to perform a magic show for his senior honors thesis. Brushwood got an “A,” and upon graduation began performing his unique brand of bizarre magic at clubs and schools. Brushwood captured “Best Club Magic” and “Best Comedy Magic” awards from the Texas Association of Magicians and broke out onto the national scene.
