The next workshop is "How to Write a Business Plan." It will be held on Sept. 10 in room 120 of Wittman Complex on 11th Ave. from 9 a.m.-noon. Participants will learn how to develop a business plan that can be used as a financial tool and a way to show employees a vision for the business. The plan also will provide a presentation tool to help hook investors, a study to help determine the feasibility of the business idea, and provide a road map to grow the business. The fee is $15 and the workshop will be taught by Tedi Roach.

"Mind Your Own Business" is a workshop for youths ages 9-12 that have thought about starting a business, including babysitting, lawn mowing, or pet-walking. The workshop will teach students how to start a small business and make it successful. The workshop is Sept. 11 at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Grangeville Elementary Community Room in Grangeville. The fee is $20 and Jill Thomas-Jorgenson, Director of the Region II ISBDC, will be the instructor.

A workshop on "Cash Flow and Record Management" will be held on Sept. 16 at 9 a.m.-noon in the LCSC Activity Center. The workshop, taught by Su Brown, will help small business owners avoid IRS problems and provide a model for good record keeping. Topics include IRS services, taxpayer ID number, record keeping systems, accounting methods, bookkeeping systems, business transactions, business records, and business taxes. The course fee is $25.

The second workshop in Orofino is entitled "Customer Service" and will be held Sept. 21 at 6-8 p.m. in the Orofino Outreach Center.    The final workshop of the month is "Payroll Practices for Your Business" on Sept. 23 at 9-11 a.m. at the Activity Center on the LCSC campus. The workshop will cover basic procedures, processes, and terminology. Topics that will be covered include state withholdings and Federal EIN numbers, paperwork required for new employees, wage rates, W-4s, state notification of new employees, employee expenses to your business, deductions such as insurance premiums, advances, FICA, garnishments, and additions, such as bonuses, commissions, mileage, and reimbursements for business expenses.
