The National Bench Rest Association sanctioned match will feature both Hunter- and Varmint- shooting. Hunter bench rest involves shooting one shot at each of five bullseyes for record, while Varmint bench rest puts all five shots for record in one group. All shots must be made in 7 minutes. Shooting will be done from existing benches at the range. Targets will be at 100 and 200 yards, and five targets per shooter will be shot at each range.

Hunter rifles must be .24 caliber or larger, while Varmint class allows .22 caliber and above. Telescopic sights for Hunter rifles must be a fixed 6-power, while Varmint scopes may be much stronger. Muzzle brakes are not allowed. Each class has additional specific rules pertaining to weight, size, and action type, and questions should be directed to the appropriate match director. The Hunter Match Director is Glenn Sampson (509) 397-2075; Varmint Match questions- call Denton Andrews at (208) 743-8200.

The range will be open for bench-rest competitors only, at 7:00 AM. For all non- competitors, the range will be open at the usual 9:00 AM. The 18 bench side of the range, from which the match will be shot, is for the exclusive use of competitors; non-competitors will be allowed to shoot at distances up to 100 yards from the 6-bench side.

For non-match shooters, there will be many short cease fires, including one lengthy one, during this match.
